Project 1-Documentation And Analysis
This project allows students to find a construction site, ask for a tour to guide them throughout the site and gain basic construction knowledge from the engineers and person in charge on the site for the documentation. After that, students shall browse through books and websites to know more about the construction detail and do self analysis about the type of construction methods and materials used at the site.
Description
The project is conducted at a construction site which were undergoing the construction of 2 storeys houses. In a group of 8, each of us choosed our responsible part before the site visit so that the process can be smoother and avoid any conflicts. The parts included introduction, site safety, external work, foundation, superstructure, doors and windows, roof and summary. I was responsible for the foundation part, the engineers there gave me a lot of information and taught me about the knowledge in foundation. We took as much photos as we can and asked anything that we're not sure about. We are really thankful for the helpful engineers and quatity surveyers at the construction site for their time and patience.
Reflective
I faced a lot of obstacles during my part in finding a suitable construction site that was at the foundation state, I've been to a construction site near Sunway, called for the manager for his permission to get information about the foundation, but ended up waiting at the construction for 3 hours which he didn't show up. But on the way back, I was lucky enough to notice a construction site named The Petalz which it was still constructing the foundation part. Especially Mr Amir, which is an engineer in the construction site, he answered the questions that I asked patiently and guide me through the construction site to let me can actually see the whole construction process of the foundation, I am really appreciate his time effort in giving me the meaningful tour during the site visit.
