Description

The tradisional shophouse that I've chose was located at Taman Desa, Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur. The reason that I chose this shophouse was because this area was built in more than 40 years, although the exterior of the shophouse had been much renovated, but the interior of the shophouse is still maintained in its traditional state. The first floor of the shophouse is a chinese restaurant, the entrance and exit of the restaurant are both opened to allow ventilation. The second floor of the shophouse is a housing area, the unique design of the house is that it has two internal courtyards which can also allow ventilation and sunlight to passed through, these benifit the house as the house is rectangle in shape. The usage of white colour paint allows the interior of the house to look larger in size.

Reflective

At first I found it difficult for me to look for a traditional shophouse because of transportation problem and time, and then I realized of my friend's house which has the characteristics of traditional shophouse. I feel very grateful that my friend allow me to be in her house early in the morning to take some photos. Other than that, through the effort by myself, I can understand more about the chosen materials that is used in the particular area and how the material could affect the atmosphere of the shophouse so that people can be in it comfortably and safely.
