Description
Curutchet House is one of the masterpiece by Le Corbusier. It was designed to a doctor, Dr. Curutchet, which includes both his working office and a mansion where he can lives with his family. The poplar tree at the middle of the house separated the public area and the private area of the house. At the public area, ramp was used as the pathway that guide people to the house and staircase was used in the private space. Nevertheless, the well known 5 Points of Architectures proposed by Le Corbusier were also applied to the Curutchet House, which include pilotis, free plan, ribbon window, free face and roof garden. For the individual part, I was resposible for the Elements And Components topic which covers the Curutchet House.
Reflective
Through this project I learned the detail features and history of the Curutchet House, how the elements harmonizes together and applied to the design and the matching characteristics to the user which was a doctor. It concerns about the working and family parts of the user which makes it an interesting historial architecture.
