My concept is still maintain as 'Embrace' as from interim. As new generation is our important medium to translate the importance of protecting the nature to allow the continuation growth of flora and fauna, this is why the centre of the building which the design is embracing is the plantation nursery, as if the design is embracing the future. In the final design presentation, the surrounding nature gave us protection for our human's well-being and allows civilisation development, so in turn, the design itself acts as a protector protecting and embracing the plantation nursery which metaphore as embracing the future just like how the nature embrace us. Moreover, the main material for the walls is different colour tones of stoneworks as it is not as cold tone as concrete or as eye catching as red bricks, instead, the stoneworks create harmony with the green scenery of the surrounding and make the design appear to be more nature related, and it also has low-e characteristic which could prevent heat from penetrating easily in or out of the building, and maintain thermal comfort for the occupants too. Further detail of the presentation can be seen in the presentation boards embedded above.

 

Reflective

As this project emphasized on the construction details and sustainability in the use of materials and considerating of the elements at the site context, I have learnt to design which considerating all these different aspects to produce a well interpreted design. Although the concept is well express at the exterior of the building, but the user experience within the spaces should be study in depth as the feeling of being embrace is vague, based on the comments from the crit. Furthermore, there are definitely still alot of things that I need to improve such as presentation board arrangements, photoshop tecniques and especially, design the building to be specific to the site to make the deisgn unique. 

Project 2B - Nature Appreciation Centre

 

Developed from the previous interim session and further tutorial sessions, students need to produce orthographic drawings of the design, exterior and interior renderings which would well express the poectic feeling of the design itself and also a well interpreted concept which could explain well on the presentations boards.
