The specific field I choosed to study in depth in this report is Risk Assessment as I am interested in how the usage of BIM can efficiently detect the possible risk in the virtual model before the actual building is being built.
Reflective
Before this module started, I can only imagine that it was just another software for 3D model design, like Rhinoceros and 3Ds Max, but after the introduction conducted by our lecturer and the further study in completing the study paper, I realize how important that by implying BIM in the AEC industries in terms of cost and time efficient, better communication among arhchitects and engineers and furthermore, a virtual life cycle of the building can be demostrated through the model constructed in Revit. I have learned a lot in this module and it is sure it benefits my future career and introduce the usage of Revit earlier for me.
Project 1 - BIM Application And Research In AEC
There were alot of benefits by applying the technology of BIM into the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry. This paper let students to research the usage of BIM in depth by selecting a specific issue in the project brief, including Project Management, Digital Heritage & Conservation Energy Analysis, Risk Assessment, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Virtual Prototyping. This project intends to expose students to the various current and potential applications and research in the AEC industries, through an in-depth review of the literatures. The findings are presented in the form of an academic report.
