Project 1 - Industrialised Building System
Industrialised Building System is becoming a widely used building system in Malaysia, and is also an encouranged construction system because of its cost effectiveness because of using high repetitive construction components, more safety and less time consuming than most of the conventional construction system. Therefore, to let students have a hands on understanding to this up-raising system, this project requires students to redesign a building regarding to the requirements in IBS and build a scaled down model and produce a video as submission.
In this project, I was with a group with Evon Low, Lee Chaer Shean, Nicholas Yap, Chew Eng Heng and Low Jia Cheng. Evon, Chaer Shean, Nicholas and Jia Cheng were reposible in amending the floor plans regarding to the IBS requirements and also produce a digital 3D model to ease the actual model construction, and me and Jia Cheng were reponsible in producing the final presentation video. And at the end as the detail models of the IBS components, we produced the detailed sectional models including column-to-column detail, column-to-beam and slab detail and finally roof to beam and column detail.
Reflective
The amendment of the floor plans to fit to the IBS requirement part was the hardest part as the types of construction components, including beams, columns, slabs and wall components to be as less as possible, but I must admit that I didn't helped much in amending the floor plans as the process would be complicated as there are too much people incharging the floor plans, therefore, my responsiblility in this project was focused on model and detail model making and video editing. But above of all, I learnt that how IBS construction system works and how it benefite future construction safety, and nevertheless, learnt how to discuss and find alternate design solution with groupmates and conversation techniques which could ease the project progress.
